Care and Independence Executing Routine Activities - Age 9

a. Brushing teeth, taking bath and getting ready for school
b. Have a strong conviction that today I will engage my mind in thinking positive and spend my day doing good deeds.
c. Organize the school bag with books, lunch box and water bottle. Books must be arranged in order of class timetable.
d. Ensure timely completion of homework with due diligence.
e. Ensure that parents have reviewed the homework.
f. Learn to ride a bicycle. Must be able to at least go to the end of society where he/ she resides to carry out basic chores (e.g. dropping off clothes at the Laundromat etc)
g. Learn how to take good care of books. Learn how to put protective cover on the books.
h. Know how to dial a phone. If someone calls, must learn to take the message and jot down the call back number. Must know the mobile number of his parents or close relatives. Should learn to keep a small pocket diary of relevant telephone numbers
i. Know how to change the cell of small electronic items around the house, like watch etc.
j. Learn to enjoy the colours of dusk and dawn. Should be able to enjoy the beauty of nature, be it the chirping of birds or meowing of the cats!
k. Learn how to use gum/ fevicol to fix minor tears.
l. Know how to make small paper packets
m. Know how to clear the house and verandah using a broom-stick or a vacuum cleaner.
n. Be ever-ready to do follow instructions given by the elderly person(s) of the house.
o. Learn not to throw a temper tantrum if he/ she does not get the food items or toys as desired.
p. Develop an independent taste/ preference of the colour of clothes.
q. Must stay away from strangers, especially when he or she is alone. Do not get tempted to take any items from strangers (food, toys, clothes etc)
